I paint with watercolors as a way of capturing the beauty of the world around me. Vermont is the place that inspires me to visualize the colors and vibrancy of my environment. Traveling to other places also inspires me to capture my experiences through this media. I love it when people recognize and relate to the places I've painted on a personal level.
I enjoy the challenge of integraing academic knowledge I've gained, both formally and informally, with the nature of watercolors. Man-made structures situated in nature are of particular interest to me.
My work is representational, and I love the straight, hard edges of buildings, boats and barns mixed with the 'difficult to capture' soft fullnes of trees, fields, clouds and, most recently, people. I enjoy doing 'house portraits' as well as original 2" by 3"miniature paintings. They may be purchased at The Old Mill, The Gruppe Gallery and Artists' Mediums.
I was helped to understand the concepts and techniques through the teachings of Vermont artists, Lisa Beach of Stowe, Kathy Berry Bergeron of Jericho, abd Gary Eckhart of Waitsfield.
I hope you enjoy my work!
