Throughout my life I have loved color! My earliest recollection was the beautiful shades of color in nature. When at play, I was always observing the world around me. Loving to garden, my Mom took me to various homes to exchange plants with her friends. I grew fascinated by the vivid colors and huge variety of flowers I saw in our world.
I took art classes in high school, but concentrated on the sciences and graduated from the University of Missouri School of Nursing. I met my husband Steve here in Vermont and have six children and stepchildren along with nine grandchildren. As our children grew older, I wanted an outlet for my creativity and started taking acrylic classes at Davis Studio. Within a few years I discovered watercolor and since have participated in numerous classes with Kathleen Berry Bergeron and Lynn Cummings. I am inspired by these exceptionally creative instructors and love the unpredictability of the paint as it is applied. Photographing nature is another pursuit of mine with photos used mostly as inspiration for my next painting project.
I am a member of the Essex Art League. Several of my works are included in the book "Inspired By Emily" and I have exhibited arts and crafts at the Champlain Valley Fair, Phoenix Book Store, The Old Mill, The Paper Peddler, CVS Pharmacy, Unsworth Law Offices, and Village Green Florist.
Art brings me great joy and it is a privilege to share my work with others!
